Lavaux vineyards

Local flavour

An unmissable experience for any oenophile, the Lavaux vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 20 minutes outside Lausanne.

The area is known for its long-standing wine production, particularly the light, elegant Chasselas. If you can, time your visit for spring or summer, when the vineyards are at their most abundant and wineries are open.

Getting there from Beau-Rivage Palace is easy, and many wineries will welcome you in for a tasting. Once you’ve topped up your alcohol intake, wine knowledge and precured a few items for the cellar, the region also offers restaurants, viewpoints and regular train connections back to Lausanne.
