Rendez-vous with Sophie Marceau
Join Le livre sur les quais for a special literary edition featuring a cocktail lunch on Sunday, 22 November, with the exceptional Sophie Marceau, who will have the honour of speaking about her latest novel, Warszawa (Seghers). The discussion will be moderated by journalist Karine Weinberger.
Warszawa is an autobiographical account in which Sophie Marceau looks back on the seventeen years she shared with Polish director Andrzej Żuławski, who was twenty-five years her senior. Through their love story and artistic collaboration — she appeared in five of his films — she recounts her journey towards independence, her discovery of Poland and Warsaw, as well as the evolution of their relationship, which gradually became marked by control and emotional domination.
Blending intimate memories, cinema, personal destinies and the discovery of a country still under communist rule, Sophie Marceau reflects on memory, love, creativity and the need to break free. A deeply personal account combining moments of grace and hardship, without seeking to judge or prove anything.
Published by Seghers in October 2026, Warszawa is her second book, following La Souterraine (2023).
