Statement of intent: “I discovered the world of ‘reading’ quite recently. It was rather unfamiliar to me—not as a spectator, but as an actress. I felt a pleasure of an unknown kind. I was reading Racine, or Duras… It was like a revelation, which brought about a new exaltation. You enter the text; it happens in a vibratory way, between the tremor present in the audience’s listening and the tremor of the spoken word. It is their listening that guides you. And it is so unexpected to feel people so utterly captivated by a single voice, sometimes accompanied only—subtly—by music. These readings remain moments that are both ephemeral and unforgettable. They inscribe themselves within us forever. When I speak of texts that have passed through me in this way, I offer no proof to the audience, only my enthusiasm. I find this very beautiful, and in some way it reconnects with an oral tradition.”
